After years (literally) of mental debate over the direction I wanted to take my garage re-do, I've finally gotten off my duff and done something. Many thanks to all of you for the inspiration - there have been some fantastic spaces created and shared through this site. I'm in awe of the creativity of many of the members here.
The house is a 1985 vintage suburban Dallas ranch with the world's narrowest 3 car garage. It's barely 27' wide total, so space along the side walls is at a premium in order to actually fit three cars in. The space & storage plan took place when I had some warehouse racking left over from a recent relocation of one of my businesses, so I ended up putting the redundant racks at the back of the garage to hold all of the junk. There is one 8' wide section and one 4' wide section that are both 4' deep. They hold lots of junk. The plan is to make sliding screens to hide the clutter.
The floor was the biggest debate, but ended up going with the checkerboard Armstrong Excelon VCT after reading threads here. I LOVE the look and am very happy with my installation. Attached are a couple of shots pre-polished. The polish didn't turn out quite how I wanted it, so I might re-do it. Too much lint from the mop dried in the polish and I don't like the result. My wife thinks I'm nuts for wanting to strip a week-old floor, but then again, she thinks I'm nuts for doing the tile anyway!
Next step is to build a new workbench and organize the tools. Then the motorcycle project can begin in earnest.
Thanks again for the inspiration!
