Reward for cancelling vacation

I work for a coach bus company as their director of training and compliance. I have worked here either full or part time for nearly 18 years. Much of that time was as a mechanic in their shop. I always take the week between Christmas and New Year off. This year was no different. BUT, last Wednesday I got the dreaded call asking if I could come in and assist in the shop as they were swamped with some difficult mechanical issues. Being the guy that never says no, I worked up through today.

Before I left today, one of the owners (It's a family owned business) said "There is a little something in your truck, don't open it till you get home" Assuming it was a bottle of booze, I drove home and checked the back seat but didn't see anything. I opened the tailgate and found a nearly new Reznor heater. It was purchased for our wash bay but a few months later we converted to a waste oil burning furnace so they took this one down. I offered to buy it several times but they said no.

I guess it does pay to be that guy who never says no.... Can't wait to get some real heat in my shop!!!

I just installed a 45k Reznor unit in my shop to supplement the in floor heat. They are very well built units.

Just be warned (in case you didn't know already) the venting is a little pricey if you opt to install venting horizontal through the wall, as you will need to use stainless steel. There's also a lot of clearance requirements you'll want to check out.

A cheaper option is to use B-vent and go through the roof.

Let me know if you have any questions with the install. I can shoot you a few pictures of my setup if it helps any.

Good to see someone get rewarded for doing extra, to many companies are cutting back on the extras that make going the extra mile worth it.

I've always been that guy that never shuts his phone off. During my first career, I was a union rep so it started there. It has come back to me several times in different ways but this one was a true surprise to me.

Thanks! Yeah if you could send me a couple of pics I'd appreciate it. I would like to go out the side wall even though it may be a bit pricey. I did get the heater for free so... the heater will be mounted fairly close to the outside wall so i won't need a whole lot of vent pipe. I will PM you my email address.

Considering the heater was free, its easier to pay for the vent kit!
