Well i have bad case of the bubbles in my epoxy floor (Legacy HD epoxy). I have 1500sqft that i have been coating in sections, between expansion joints. With 400sq ft left, a 200 sqft section has bubbled up. It hadn't rained in 2 weeks and i coated with 40% humidity (slightly rising) with the temps dropping. I coated after dark. I followed the same guide lines for coating this section as i had for all of the rest. It was so dry, the urethane cured with a slightly textured finish. I kind of like it, as it will help conceal scratches.
I applied the epoxy and urethane as directed, and then got all these bubbles. When i purchased for this project i bought extra epoxy (300 sqft kit) because my acid etch as too strong and left me with a 60 grit sand paper-like finish. Very porous. Anyway, i have been happy with the coating thickness and will have 300 sq ft of epoxy left. Im going to finish my final 200 sq ft before i rework the bubbled section.
My question is this. if I break every bubble open, and sand/rough-up the urethane surface? Can i apply the epoxy over the urethane with decent adhesion? Would a belt sander with an over used belt be a power tool option for roughing up the area?
Some suggestions from experience are gladly accepted.
Thanks.
