I re-arranged things and put in pallet racks this weekend. The reznor is mounted on the ceiling. The 42 inch pallet racks come about 4" away at their closest, then since the reznor is angled diagonally it fades to about a foot away. My number one concern of course is fire, do things in back of the heater get hot??? Second concern is airflow, I obviously will be leaving some good space there on the racks, not packing things tight right there at all.

here's a pic.....

It may be OK, but the installation instructions for that heater are the final word on what is too close and what is OK...

Go to the Reznor website and download the installation manual for your particular model. I looked at the manual for one model at random (#UDAP) and it said a minimum of 18" clearance from the back side of the heater. https://www.rezspec.com/

****. 18 inches eh. Mines an FE110 iirc. I'll go take a look.

*edit* F100, ?. I'm not in the garage right now.

seems to say: ***24" for maintenance purposes only.

I guess I'll play it safe and clear out that shelf, and watch it like a hawk when I fire it up come winter.
