I have a 4 stall garage. About 1000 square feet. I have quotes to instal 60k reznor or 60k hot dawg. I already know I’ll want the temp at about 40 most of the time. Occasionally at 60 to do my woodworking. It can get to 30 below here. Ceiling is insulated to R50. Gas line is run, electrical and low volt wires are already run for a thermostat. What should the heater cost to install, and should I prefer hot dawg or reznor.

Either will be fine, it is like a Chevy versus Ford argument. I prefer the Modine, my experience says their heat exchangers are tougher.

Also, I would say 60,000 is too large. Unless the garage is a shack! I have a 50,000 BTU 80% furnace in may garage, 900+ square feet, North Dakota and it keeps up just fine. I have a buddy with a 750 sqft garage and he heats it with 17,000 BTU. I have yet to see a reasonably insulated garage or shop that couldn't be heated with 25 BTU per square foot.

I did HVAC work for years and have put 30,000 BTU heaters in 1,000 sqft garages and they have been fine. In your case I wouldn't got over 45,000-50,000 BTU. 30,000 BTU will heat it, but 45,000 will warm it up faster when you want to use the space.
