I love RHFT ratchets, but I don't get how a thumbwheel is all that helpful on a long 1/2 flex. Also, I know the RHFT ratchets are pretty tough, I am not sure how much torque beating it can handle as a 1/2 long ratchet as compared to todays high end offerings.

I can see it now:

Homeowner **** "yes sir I have this old and very vintage craftsman ratchet for sale but it will only cost you $150.00 doolars".

Buyer Woody "Well **** how did you come up with that price?"

**** " Well Woody seems like they talk about how great they are on a web-site called the GJ and that just drives up the price on E-bay".

These times are a changing not like the old days...

This is beyond Crazy... who the hell would pay MORE for a craftsman than they could buy a brand new Snap-on off the truck?!?!

I mean, I'm not a huge Snap-on fanboy, but damn.

I think it has to do with rarity . . . they don't make 'em anymore yet are in demand for being a "good quality" ratchet. I'm pretty sure no one is buying them to use them. When all is said and done, anything is basically worth what people are willing to pay. I wouldn't pay those prices but that's just me. :)

Agreed. The RHFTs are becoming collectors items rather than every day use items.

I don't think I have ever seen one used and that is searching many years at the flea market. Also, I don't think I remember seeing any; in the seven years that I worked in the tool dept. at my local sears! They must be pretty rare.
