Hey guys,

Looking to pick up a set of Rhino ramps this week and have 2 questions....

1. Any reason (other than price) not to get the set rated for 16000GW over the standard 12000GW set? Near as I can tell they are pretty much identical other than what they are rated for (and the 16k set being 2lbs heavier)? Granted, I'll never even come lose to maxing out the 12k set but I figure the 16k set is probably beefier and beefier is better right?

2. Can you recommend the best place to buy these that is hopefully having some kind of sale on them right now?

Mine are the older style, I bought the higher rating as well, really no reason not to other than a slightly lower profile ramp.

Advance Auto sells them and most stores stock them so no waiting on shipping. The 16k set is actually on sale for $50 which is a pretty good price. If you use cashback sites like ebates they usually do 10-12% cashback for black Friday/cybermonday as well.

I have two sets of the 16,000 lb Rhino Ramps. I learned not to use them on gravel as they 'separate' if the ground is not completely flat. I used them for RVs, Trucks and Cars without any issues. They work great for a low profile Chevrolet Cavalier with a body kit. If I remember correctly I bought mine at AutoZone with a coupon and spent the $20 in AutoZone bonus. Total for each set was around $45.00.

I went to Amazon.Com and read the reviews and if it were me I wouldn't buy them after seeing the pictures. Jmo

Well.....depends how stupid you are. Despite the first two "slow" people the product has nearly a perfect overall rating. Whats that tell you?

First review the guy crumpled the ramp on an uneven surface. Its the only way to accordion it like that. Second review the guy is using them on gravel so the ramp cant distribute the weight AND the other wheel in the shot is off the ground so hes got the entire vehicle on one ramp.

I have two sets of the older design, never had an issue and I am really safe around stuff like this. Noticed on the second reviews damage ramp if you look the opposite wheel on the same axle it is not supported, looks like the vehicle is supported by one ramp? No wonder it failed...:dunno:

I have the gray/silver plastic Rhino Ramps (I think the 12000) not sure since they are not in front of me, but I use them extensively to service my cars or to get the car up high enough than use a jack to raise the rest of the way and than use jack stands. Have had them for about 10 years now without any issues.

I've had my excurison on them with no issues. I have an older set, mine don't have the holes in the front portion.

I have the older 16000 version. They work fine.
My cars are in the 3200 lb range. I dont like to push to the limit with these things. Same with jack stand and pump.

I have what I guess is an older design of Rhino ramps. I am quite happy with them. Easy to use and hold my 6500 lb truck with no problem.

Thanks for the input guys. I'm not working on rocks or gravel so I'm not worry about that. I already have jacks and jack stands that I will continue to use for most tasks but I want these for oil changes or other quick maintenance type work.

There is a Mernards not to far away. Looks like the main difference between the 12k and 16k version is the width. The 12k is 12" wide and the 16k is 13.5" wide. My assumption is it's that difference that increases the weight rating and added overall weight?

I don't plan to use these on my truck (no need for them there) so I think I will be fine with the 12k version. Thanks again
