My wife asked me last night if I wanted some company on my Friday morning Garage sale tool hunting adventures; which of course I said yes please come with me. We arrived at 8am and the sky this morning was overcast with a hint of rain in the air.
The nice man was busy setting up his garage when I spotted a basket full of ratchets, not needing any more (like a hole in my head) I was looking for a vintage tool for the vintage tool section, when I spotted this modern design (made after 1967) and it was begging for a tool story.
I was never a big fan of the open air design (big collector of dirt), but I did not have one in my collection and after some haggling we came to a price of $6.00 dollars and it came home with me today.
Both men had tool patents, Mr. Wright was from Akron, Ohio and Mr. Greenlee was from GatesMills, Ohio. It would appear that Mr. Greenlee has many more patents to his name then Mr. Wright. Seeing that his last name was wright I called the Wright company this afternoon and asked if he was somehow related to the Wright Co. and the very nice lady on the phone said no such luck but by coincidence he just had the same last name; I asked her about Mr. Greenlee and she did not know that name either.
The Patent was filed on June 7th, 1982 and Granted on Oct. 30th, 1984 and the assignee was the Wright Tool and Forge Company in Barberton ,Ohio.
