ridge vent whats the best

I'm buying the neighbors home soon and was noticing water damage I'm the ceiling.Once up on the roof I saw nails backing out of the vent all over the place. I've never used aluminum r v before and currently don't like it. Before I commence ripping it up and replacing it with the plastic type you nail shingle tabs into I thought of hear from you guys.

I've used the GAF Cobra 3 ridge venting and recommend it. I don't care for the roll fiber stuff. Seems to easy to install wrong by crushing it when nailing on the shingles. There are special nails for hand nailing that have a shank collar you are to use with the fiber roll stuff to supposedly keep you from nailing it down to tight or use a special adapter tip for a coil nail gun.
