I'm finally looking to get a 1/2" impact to add to the tool collection. I have a few 18V Ridgid tools I started buying a few years ago primarily due to the LSA. I've been satisfied with the tools, so I'm looking at a Ridgid 18V 1/2" impact. It looks like the base impact is 485 ft-lbs fastening, 620 ft-lbs breakaway torque. HD also shows a high torque model 1100/1500 ft-lbs torque.
Regarding the base impact (485/620 ft-lbs) - anyone using for automotive/light truck work? How does this impact perform? Enough removal torque for typical auto/light truck work? At one point I was thinking about going with the air tools, but I would need an upgraded compressor, etc. and just decided to stick with cordless electric if it can do the job. I guess I could go with the high torque version (1100/1500 ft-lbs), but if the standard one does the job, I would just stick with that one.
Thanks in advance for any comments.
