Re: Rigid 18V

It's nearly impossible to do a warranty return for a Rigid tool. Rigid tells you to go through your dealer - and your dealer will tell you to go through Rigid as Rigid won't accept a warranty return from a dealer either.

I bought a drill / impact set from HD last month after hearing about this. Think it was $200 ish. Use that set for work
The week after this, I bought the competing Bosch set for my house, which doesn't have the same Rigid Promise, but I would use much more frequently for cabinet making, remodeling, etc. etc.

If you're buying Bosch, you're buying Bosch

I bought that Ridgid set. And then bought another of the same set. Very happy with all of them so far. Other guys on this board have gotten replacement batteries under the lifetime warranty. I can't imagine buying a tool for the same amount of money and just accepting that in three years the batteries are going to die.

You got three years out of your battery set?
I got about a year out of my Makita stuff, and this was just using them nights and weekends building transmissions

I have the 18V drill driver set and then added the Circular saw as a bare tool. Love the tools, but keep in mind I am no contractor just a DIY. Used all three tool to replace about 20 deck boards last year and I was very happy. I also have a 12v drill and Job max. My only warrenty claims have been for the 12v batteries. I went into one of the dealers, presented my LSA info and walked out with 2 new batteries. Just have to remember to follow the instruction when filling out the warrenty and I had to re-register the new batteries that I got. Most people do not follow the instructions or think its too much hassle. Its been worth it to me.

I absolutely love my 18v Ridgid stuff. I bought the original stuff off Ebay used about 5 years ago and it still works good. Recently bought a set with the driver, drill and batteries just for the two batteries and charger. I would buy more in a heart beat.

I picked up an 18v drill, charger and battery set with a decent bag from home depot for $40 close to 6yrs ago, because the box was all in spanish so they knocked $100 off. Still use it all the time, although ive had to replace the charger once and that came with new batteries that charge in about 20 minutes. The plastic sleeve on the chuck recently cracked but its still usable, just a little finicky sometimes. Got my moneys worth but when this one goes out, i'll probably look for something a little more compact with a longer battery life

I started my collection with the 18V LI-Ion 1/4" impact driver, about a 2 years ago. It came with 1 battery and a coupon for a 2nd free battery. This thing has balls. Right out of the box I put a 3/8" x 6" lag into a rough cut 2x4. Then I registered and charged the battery. Since then I picked up the 3/8 drill and reciprocating saw combo at a flea market for $70 bucks. The batteries were poop, but i had already had 2 so I didnt mind. I could not register the batteries because there were the old style that were not warrantied. I also picked up a 12v refurbed multi-tool from Ollies. I have been very impressed with the charged times and power of the tools.
BTW, I have use mine in the cold (25 degrees F) and have had no problems.

We purchased the Rigid multi tool kit with saws all , Drill , Light, impact , circular saw over 6 years ago at work. I have had many batteries replaced and the tools replaced over time. Also had the drill and saws all repaired with no hassle. The set is used by several employees that could care less about taking care of tools. The rigid is a little heavier than my dewalt tools but work excellent in a industrial environment.

I bought the Ridgid 18v set when HD had that $50 off $100 coupon thing going on, so I got them for $129 + tax. For that price I think they are a good value.

The 1/4" impact will remove 100 ft-lb lug nuts...barely...but will do it.

Battery life is not very good. But they charge very fast, 20 mins or so.

Drill is good too but again battery life is pretty bad. The batteries are the same cells as those used in Ryobi and Milwaukee lithium 18v packs.

I've had no issues registering the product for the lifetime service agreement (LSA) and my other Ridgid 1/2" corded VSR is good as well. I just wish Ridgid offered more attachments, or an adapter.
