I do not own any Ridgid cordless tools and am thinking about getting the 1/2" impact wrench currently on sale at home depot. It does not come with a charger and am a little confused on what is the latest 18V charger in Ridgid's line. I see two options (not counting the dual bay charger).

I would like to know which is the latest charger? Is one "better" than the other? Faster? etc.

Thanks

I just got the 1/2 inch impact and the charger in the top picture. The charger came with one 2ah battery (I bought the charger/battery kit separately from the tool). I tried to research them too and the best I could come up with is that the smaller bottom charger is the one that typically is included in the tool/charger combo kits you can buy. Some say the bigger charger charges a little faster. It's referred to as the rapid charger but I don't know if it's really any better than the smaller one. I know that's not really an answer to your question. I'm curious to know too.

My charger is the R86092, and it came with a Drill/Drive & Impact combo pckg. in 2016.

Has always charged very fast, but the last time I used it the light never changed from red to green :~\

I've got both pictured chargers and have not noticed any difference in charge times - though I haven't drain a battery and then timed them either. Like Kodiak I attempted to research them but didn't find any data.

I got the 2nd smaller charger as part of a kit that included the 1/2 impact that I wanted and a choice of a free tool (angle). Other kits had the 1/2 impact as one of the free tool choices but didn't include and angle grinder.

If you can wait until Labor Day (Sept 7), they often offer a free tool with various kits.

Keep in mind that batteries that come in a kit with a tool, can be registered for the lifetime warrantee and that battery chargers qualify as a tool for this purpose.
