I can't see a masonry bit working better, but if you say so.. The Milwaukee drill bits have drilled through some tough stuff for me..
Drill it 10mm deep.
You still only have a tool rated for 1/4 inch torque use
Bumping this back up. OP how is this thing holding up for you? Im tempted to pick up another impact driver and perform this mod so I can have a 3/8 dedicated impact driver yet still have my 1/4 one for driving in screws.
Has anyone else attempted this mod? From the description is seems fairly straight forward but Im also hesitant to order a new impact then take it apart and possibly breaking it. The problem is that Ridgid doesnt offer a 3/8 impact and I really want one so Im sorta at a loss. Seems I'd have to get a Dewalt or Milwaukee in which case no thanks Ill just get a pneumatic one instead.
I have the same impact and like it for the time I've been using it. I just use the adapters and they seem to work well except they get chewed up and I can see them needing replacement soon. Oh well they're cheap enough. The impact doesnt have nearly the power of my IR 2135 pneumatic, nor would I expect it to however but I do find the cordless tool convenient for low torque applications and basic fasteners.
I know you mentioned that you like the Ridgid due to the LSA but I can't see them warrantying your when it craps out given that you have modified it. What makes you think otherwise?
I would like to pick up the 1/2" impact but am trying to stick it out until they come out with a new brushless design. I'd imagine something like that is in the works but I haven't seen anything on it yet.
Either way I love what you did there but mine is a multitool still so I'd hate to loose the ability to drive in screws and **** like that.
I would really like to know the answer to this too! Will that 3/8 anvil work in converting a Milwaukee 1/4 impact driver into a 3/8 impact? I have a 1/4 impact driver I never use.
