I'm looking into getting a set of Ridgid manual ratchet threader and dies for threading black pipe, etc. I see they have model 00-R and 12-R as well as 11-R too.
How similar are the 00-R and 12-R? From what I could tell, the 12-R is larger and heavier than the 00-R, but other than the size, are they designed/built similarly? Is there any noticeable difference other than their size?
I also see 11-R which they stated is the "enclosed ratchet" style while the 00-R and 12-R are "exposed ratchet" style. Honestly, I don't really know the difference between those. Is one of them any better than the other?
I probably will be doing mostly 1/2" and 3/4" black pipes, with some occasional 1" pipes as well. I can't image doing anything over 1" but of course you'd never know when you might run into something bigger than that.
I already have the tristand vise and 2" HD pipe cutter, so all I need is a set of threader and a reamer (trying to decide between model 2-S (spiral) and model 2 (straight).
