I know Octane brushless tools are optimized to have communication with Octane batteries, but will the tools work with older generation batteries like the Hyper-Lithium?

Yes they will, but they won't have the same power output as if you used an Octane battery. The differences are not substantial enough to worry about it for normal use. Regular Hyper Lithium batteries work great.

Thanks man. I got a tool not responding. Ruling out a battery compatibility issue.
