well, what do you guys think of these/this?
I got the floor model at HD for $99.00, usually its $200.00.
it runs, has the belt, but missing all the adapter rings for the spindle, and missing all the rubber drums, and sanding sleeves,
I thought the ones from my delta BOSS might fit, not at home haven't tried yet.
But then there is this other adapter plate missing, fills the void where the belt sander assembly goes. Its like $10.00 on e bay..
now im thinking just take it back and pay the $100.00 difference, and get a new complete one.
The new one would be eligible for the lifetime service agreement, because I don't think this one is, cause I understand you need the bar code from the box, and the display unit does not have the box.
does anyone know if the Delta BOSS drums will fit the Ridgid?
are these machines prone to failure?
maybe I could just buy the fill/clearance plate, and save ~$90.00, and keep the floor model.
I don't use it (won't be using it) too often.
My delta BOSS is about 20 years old, and still running strong.

Sounds to me like they are far too many missing parts for this to be considered a deal. I can't answer your question, but I do know buying individual parts is never cheap and how much time and effort are you willing to put in looking for a deal. It's not like you only need one or two. Good luck, myself I'd spend the extra Hundy for a new one and never look back.

Ive been tempted to pick one up since I could use a spindle sander. I have heard decent things but never had the chance to use one yet.

Here's my honest to God experience with this sander.

My Son read good things about it. So he bought one.

Took it home, plugged it in and spindle did nothing. Then after a few seconds it started smoking.

Took it back and got a second one. Tried it in the store while still in the box. It worked. Took it home and set it up. That thing vibrated really bad. Took it back.

Now the third time is a charm. Right? Wrong. It vibrated worse than the first.

My Son wanted to get yet another since we've heard so much good about it. I said how many times do you have to get hit in the head with a brick before you know it hurts. :eyecrazy:

That's just my experience. YMMV

I have one and it's decent. The spindle defects off 90 degrees much too easily. Ok for rough work but not a precise tool at all. I personally would pass especially considering what's missing.

I have had one for years and really like it
I have used the heck out of it and it keeps going.
If I had a chance to get another one cheap I would leave one as an edge sander and the other as a spindle sander.
The majority of the time I use it as an edge sander

I have one paid 75$ for it new- I think they changed the colour or something- I agree the drums deflect a bit but the oscillating belt sander is handy for flat edges
