An alternate reality in a parallel universe.
Anyone here have any experience with the new Ridigd brand quick action vises? I'm looking at a few of these for one of our maintenance shops.

Their regular vise looks awesome. Super streamlined. Rigid isn't a cheap brand, their brand is equated with impeccable products, and they charge for it... I'd love to get one.

I'm saving my pennies right now for that hydraulic vise. It has a hydraulic cylinder and an air-hydraulic footpedal pump.. that thing caught my eye. I just wish I didn't need to trade my first born for it.

Hey jrlp, I have 2 Heinrich air/hydraulics I was going to put on ebay this week. If you're interested, let me know. I'd rather it go to a GJer.

And OP, have yet to use the Ridgid vises, (Except my old 45cpn), but they look damn nice and I want to know more.

I know some members have posted a few pics of the regular non-quick action version of the vise on here. From what I understand, the vises/vices are manufactured in Germany, using German and Polish parts. I'm not sure which parts are Polish, maybe the larger forgings. The vises are now sold as Ridgid. They used to be sold as Peddinghaus. I believe they may be manufactured by Matador, or at least Matador seams to sell the same vise under their name. The non-quick action version of the vise is also currently sold rebranded by Facom. Ridgid does have a parts list on their website so I presume if something goes wrong you can purchase replacement parts.

Sorry I can't help you with more specifics. I've been eyeing the same vise but haven't purchased one yet.

Yeah, I love the Ridgid vise. I started out wanting the quick release but it's not like I'm loading it up a hundred times a day. Plus I went with a red workbench which ruled out green, naturally.

I have a Columbian woodworkers vise with a quick release. It is a sweet feature! Would love to have a regular bench vise with the quick release.

I ordered the XF50 Quick Action Ridgid. Will advise first impressions after it arrives.
