Currently have an older porter cable jobsite saw PCB222TS (here). It's not terrible, but definitely a "jobsite" saw.

Looking to upgrade to either the Ridgid 4512 or the Delta 36-725 and can't decide.

Ridgid 4512 - here

Pros: lifetime warranty, more popular table saw

Delta 36-725 - here

Pros: Fence design looks more appealing

The ridgid used to have the blade raising/lowering alignment issue. Information leads me to believe that ridgid identified and corrected it. What build date was this implemented? Would old stock still exhibit this problem? Would you readily notice out of the box or only after some use?

The delta's fence looks better in pictures, but can't find either in store to physical touch. How do the fences compare?

Also reading some rumors that the delta saw is being discontinued and getting it through lowes is proving difficult. If this is true, I think this would lead me towards the Ridgid for warranty, parts, community DIY mods, etc.

Both look surprisingly capable.

Couple of quick notes I made:

Ridgid doesnt mention dust collection...wonder if it has any, or easily retro fitted?

Ridgid fence actually looks nicer to me, Delta looks cheaped out.

Ridgid weighs 250+lbs vs Delta 190 lbs.

Agreed bonus points for availability of parts, accessories, and Warranty for the Ridgid.

Im leaning Ridgid. But Dewalt is considered one then best portable TS, after that the price point starts getting into the nicer TS in the used market (varies widely on location tho....).

Good luck.

What's your main desire here? I'll assume at this price point, you're looking for perfect or near-perfect cuts, portability not a concern.

The Delta has a nicer fence. I've used the Ridgid at work and it was a good saw but I bought the Delta for home use and I've been pleased with it. Lots of adjustability to get everything set up just right.

I haven't had any issues, but from what I've heard about people who have, Delta customer support was quick and responsive, and helpful about sending out parts not received or received damaged.

The ridgid r4512 has a 4" dust port.

As far as fence, how come you say it looks nicer? The ridgid one seems similar to my portable cable one now that can very easily lock down not square. It's hard to tell from pictures, but the locking style on the delta looks more similar to what you see on sawstop or unisaw cabinet saws. Could be mistaken though.

Didn't look at weight, but this is a good point.

As you said, I'm also leaning toward Ridgid due to warranty and part availability, but stuck on the whole fence issue. I guess I could also get the Ridgid and buy aftermarket fence, but some of those kits come near the price of the saw itself.

What's your main desire here? I'll assume at this price point, you're looking for perfect or near-perfect cuts, portability not a concern.

Not perfect "furniture grade" cuts, but better than current porter cable with sloppy fence, aluminum top, and constant blade alignment issues. Portability isn't an issue - it'll be staying in garage.

How's the fence locking style compare between the two?

Oh man you guys aren't making it easy. Leaning towards the Delta now haha.

Wish these stores would have them in stock/on display to see in person.

I bought the Ridgid and am happy with it. In my area the Ridgid was 100 bucks cheaper than the Delta. I also got the Ridgid flip top outfeed table and use it for more than just outfeed.

If you are concerned about the fence I would go with the Delta. Delta bought out Besimeyer (spelling?) and use the same system. So, if you want to upgrade fence later on all you need to get is the fence itself as you already have the proper hardware. With the Ridgid you will need to get the square tubing and L bar as well as fence. Personally, I think the miter is more important than the fence. I use an old Craftsman and the fence *****. But, it is still easy to line it up right and it does not move at all. Plan on getting a good miter, I would recommend the incra. And, you also want to make yourself a good crosscut sled so you can get a perfect 90 degree cut. So yeah, the fence is not as important as your ability to make precise crosscuts. Either Machine is good. I think the motor in the Ridgid will be better than the Delta. Probably why you get that lifetime warranty.

Thanks a good point. So win for delta on the fence.

How's the dust collection compare? Looks like delta only has 2.5" port, but ridgid has a full 4".
