Some yahoo on Amazon claims he burned out 2 drills and 2 saws in one weekend. The day after Christmas at that. So, this review was written either by a complete hack job maniac, or one of you Milwaukee fanboys on here...:p

Does anyone actually believe this to be true? Anyone have experience with this drill? I want to pick up a better/newer brushless drill and am trying to decide between the more affordable Ridgid or the expensive, possibly overpriced Dewalt. I played around with the Ridgid drills in Home Depot a few weeks ago and was actually shocked at the power. Granted I didn't actually drill anything, but was impressed with the torque I felt and the sound of the motor. If that means anything...

I actually have a M18 fuel battery and charger, but because I have other Dewalt and Ridgid tools, I'd like to stick with one of them.

Here are the reviews on the Ridgid https://www.amazon.com/dp/B018F25JZ0/?tag=atomicindus08-20

Definitely a troll. I've had mine for about 2 years or more now and I've worked it really hard, a lot of 1/2" holes in 3/16 to 1/2" steel and hole saws through 3/16 and thousands of small sized holes all through metal etc. And it hasn't let me down yet. (The 4.0 batteries are worth it btw)

That Rigid stuff always looked OK. I have not actually bought any. I was always leery of their parts and service. Milwaukee and Makita and Bosch have real parts and service that you can deal with or buy parts. At some point you will probably need customer support and I don't know if there is anybody to talk to. It seems like dealing with the idiots at Sears when your garbage Craftsman breaks. Since Stanley bought B&B/DeWalt and Porter Cable and sold off Delta I don't know about them. They used to bave a lot of service centers.

Everything is a **** shoot when it comes to cordless tools. Some work well for years under heavy abuse, some have problems right out of the box. You call one day for service and get denied. Call again the next day and you're getting everything you need. I've heard stories like this on every brand. I used solely 18v Ridgid tools for nearly 3 years doing carpentry and the only complaint I had was the 1/4" impact driver got pretty hot one summer day doing a deck, but continued to work all day long. Hundreds of screws were installed that day. I also have a hammer drill, drill/driver, sawzall, compact sawzall, circular saw, and about 10 batteries. The older, first gen slim batteries might die quicker than some other brands, but they're also half the price. I personally have had excellent luck with Ridgid. I have, however, had two Makita 18v lithium batteries completely die on me during that same time period. Again, it's hit or miss.

The ridgid and the milwaukee are very very similarly built. Well mostly because they are both made by TTI of china. Ryobi is basically the same as well, parts are slightly cheaper than the two counterparts. But all cordless tools are garbage for the most part.

Sounds like another Ridgid hater to me. I have this drill and it is a beast. It was my first brushless tool and I now understand the attraction.
