Is this a scam?

I received an email today from Ridgid tools stating I had won a tool giveaway.

Has anyone else received an email from Ridgid for wining a promotion?

It claims to be a promotion named "Thanks for doing all that you do everyday".

In the past I have registered my Ridgid tools at their website and may have entered a drawing in the last two months but this email looks phony. The link to claim the prize does not have a clear path to Ridgid or to Emerson tool so I am reluctant to click the link and provide any information.

I emailed Ridgid customer service to ask but have had no response. Nothing on Google related to this promotion or scam.

The email look professional and has pictures and marketing text.

THANK YOU FOR DOING WHAT MATTERS EVERY DAY
You are a winner!

Thanks for choosing RIDGID! You were randomly selected to receive a courtesy tool package after submitting your entry to our "Thank You" Giveaway.

Please click here to supply a preferred United States mailing address within the next five days, and we will promptly mail your package.

Stay healthy. Stay safe. And, again, thanks for all you do.

With Respect,
RIDGID

If you previously registered or entered they probably already have an address. Scam. Why would they not send you to rigid site? Someone bought a bunch of data in dark web and trying to add enough info to be useful. Next will be another one asking for birth day

I vote scam only because

THANK YOU FOR DOING WHAT MATTERS EVERY DAY

Is a current buzz word in the “virus fight”.

Here's a thought. Contact Ridgid and see if this is something they're doing. You'd have your answer instead of speculation from GJ members.

If you can stand the, more than likely, high COVID wait time I'd call them rather than wait on an email.

The email alone looks good as far as spelling and whatnot, but it is suspicious not being directed to a Rigid website.

Anything I ever receive or see in email, fb, or whatever claiming their giving stuff away I trash like a bad egg. I can’t believe the people that fall for this stuff and the old "Share this and you can win a truck, or you’ll get a free $250 gift card”. Wake up people.

Not a peep on ridgid.com or the ridgid forums about it. Last contest was February 20th.

Here's the follow-up to the Ridgid tool giveaway.

It is a scam.

Ridgid called me this morning and said they are not running any promotions now and ran no earlier promotions titled "THANK YOU FOR DOING WHAT MATTERS EVERY DAY".

If you receive an email saying you won a free tool package, delete it.
