I couldn't wait for PR channels to get samples into my hands, and so I picked up a couple during my lunch break.

Made in Israel, so probably by Keter or maybe even SBD. They don't look like anything Keter offers, but I have doubts that Stanley Black & Decker would make products that compete against their own.

Anyways, they feel pretty solid. Latches are excellent, plastic construction is decent.

What I like most is how they latch together a LOT easier than other systems. They probably won't beat my Dewalt cases for strength, but do I like that the Ridgid boxes are cheaper.

I saw that on Toolguyd this morning. Kinda interesting that TTI seems to want to have Ridgid and Milwaukee compete in the tool box market. I just can't imagine it's THAT big or lucrative a market, but what do I know.

I have seen these in store. They aren't bad, but I think the Dewalt Toughbox is better. It's not really an apples to apples comparison but the benefits primarily look like;

price

name (most jobsite boxes say Ridgid or Jobsite, not Stanley, Festool or Bosch)

cart availability (have you seen the tough system cart in any retail store?)

box sizes seem to be more in line with what tools need. seems like less wasted space when I put a few tools off the shelf into them. Maybe the best way to say it is a more snug fit, there is still room for accessories and such. I didn't try anything intricate like a router with multiple bits & jigs, just a few display tools.

It's not TTI, I checked. Emerson makes the larger Ridgid JobBoxes, but probably arranged with a different OEM for these.

Tool boxes might not be lucrative, but it's a market everyone wants a piece of. A lot of users are warming up to the idea of a single tool box footprint with multiple size options,

The Dewalt cart is hands-down better, BUT you cannot really reconfigure it on the fly. Another benefit of the Dewalt is how you can remove just the tool box you need.

With the Ridgid, you're ready to go in no time. I was only going to buy one of each at the store, but ended up buying an extra organizer and medium box.

These look very good, pricing is sensible, they have obviously had a lot of effort put into the design, and I like that the big box is its self a cart. The tube box looks like it would be very handy for carrying around all day. Just a shame they are very unlikely to be ever available in the UK. The Dewalts are too expensive here, a complete 3 box stack with the cart is about £250

The Tube one is nice, but I think I'll end up discarding the tray to be able to use more internal space.

Bought a couple of the tool boxes, and I'm pretty impressed. Put 3 in use yesterday, the other 2 today.

I just picked up the lower cart and the mid box, but not the upper organizer. My HD did an excellent impression of a monkey f****** a football trying to fulfill my online order (still not ready 5 days after ordering online for in-stock, in-store pickup) so I at least got 10% off.

Anyway I'm really impressed with the product, just wish it were wider, but that's because of my specific needs. The construction seems top-notch for plastic boxes and all the latches are awesome (which Stuey expands upon in his review above). The telescoping handle is cool and it all rolls nicely empty; haven't had a chance to load it up yet. Really a slick system overall though, I'd highly recommend thus far.

I checked them out in the store last week after reading this and was impressed in bot the boxes and the price. Talking to the guy in the dept about them he said that they would be going on sale as part of the X-mas promotion after black Friday.

So I decided to wait to get them.

I'm thinking all three sizes plus a extra mid size

I picked up several Tough System boxes at an amazing Boxing-week deal. They just got here a couple of days ago.

It's a nice system but, even at under half retail, they are too expensive. This Ridgid system looks like it would have been ideal for me in terms of price and quality but I haven't seen them in Canada yet and they aren't available online here, either.

I too am in love with the idea of nesting toolboxes. It should be a significant time improvement for getting set up and tearing down at a job site.

This is not a technical knock on the DeWalt Tough System. I just don't see $550 CAD worth of value. That's what it would have cost, had it not been on sale for more than 50% off. These Ridgid units appear to be nearly as good for a fraction of the price.

I find that I like Dewalt's boxes in many ways, and Ridgid's in others. One of the things I like about Ridgid's, aside from its lower pricing, is how much easier they are to latch together when stacked.

Reviving this thread to share the Special Buy going on right now. Buy the bottom and middle chests and get the organizer free, saving $29. I've contemplated them since this deal started and finally bought a set today. They are nice, especially considering the price. I'm already tempted to get a second setup but really have no need for more storage.

So far, I've only started to fill the organizer. My 12v drill and impact fit perfectly in the center portion, along with charger, two batteries, and two DeWalt ToughCases filled with various bits. I'll dump some of the contents of my Keter cantilever organizers in the bins for a quick grab and go assortment of screws and driver tools. The middle box will probably hold general tools like hammers and tape measures, while the bottom may get filled as needed with corded power tools or other stuff. Time will tell how well they hold up, but the boxes are very solid.

Here're some pics; the boxes are bigger than they look. The bottom holds both my regular and low voltage electrician's bags along with a bunch of Channellock pliers. The middle isn't fully loaded but has a couple of hammers, a speed square, chalk line, zip ties, and a bunch of other stuff. The top box has the aforementioned cordless tools along with a tape measure and some wood and sheet metal screws.

Now I just have to move out of the trailer park so I can use all this stuff more often.
