Just bought one a couple months ago. I've only used it a half-dozen times, but it performs quite well. I like the shape, for storing it out of the way and that is a big benefit in my space-challenged carport. It does not have the huge volume some do, so you empty it more often. However, so far I've used it picking up concrete dust and small chunks after busting some out with a hammer drill, plus some damp soil/peat moss and some general floor detritus, including some mixed-in pieces of small gravel. Very good performance.

Disclaimer: This is the first one I've owned. I've borrowed a couple over the years, though I don't have a lot of experience with them so no comparisons available from me.

I had it on my Amazon wish list [$99 with free shipping] for a month or so. Then, I found it on HD's web site for $90, free shipping to a store. Paid sales tax, of course, but it still came out a couple bucks less than Amazon's price at that time.

It seems like it would be perfect for my small garage.

Everything from the review make it sound great. Would be nice to see one in real life.

Not sure that anywhere around me would sell them.

I could not find them in any stores in the Denver area. If they are there, I didn't see them. However, Home Depot was more than happy to send me one if I ordered it online. Free shipping. That's how I got mine a couple months ago. HD also has the filters and accessories for it, they just don't stock the model itself for some reason. I was at HD about two hr. ago, and I saw the Ridgid 4522 air filters, fine-particle filter bags, and various nozzles, etc. there on the shelf.

By the way, I found plenty of the shop vacs, just not that particular model. And I am glad I waited and ordered that one, fits real nicely beneath the work table with no wasted space from a round vac. It does not have wheels; I find this a non issue, they are light enough to pull around or pick up and move. One could always build a dolly with wheels, but I can't see myself ever needing to in my smallish area.

Rigid is a Home Depot brand and the company that is selling them on amazon likely bought them from Home Depot.

How do you feel the suction works in comparison to any other shop vac?

Really, I have so little experience with other vac's I cannot say how the suction compares.
