Not sure if this has been posted yet, (I did a search with no luck) but it looks like Ridgid finally released the 1/2 x4 impact wrench. I'm debating on the purchase, but would like to know if anyone has used one, and what are your thoughts. Any problems breaking free 100-150 ft lb lug nuts? How does the battery hold up? A review would be great before I spend $140.

Most decent 1/2" cordless (full size) should be able to break loose 100-150 ft-lbs. Hell, even the Craftsman impact can so I expect no less from the Rigid.

I torqued a front lug nut on Chevy 3500 to 200 ft/lbs. After 2 seconds of impacting, the lug nut came right off.

Steven,

That's good to hear. Are you using the regular batteries or the extended 3.0 amp batteries?
If your using the regular batteries, how long do they last?

I've only used the 3.0 so far. I haven't used it enough to see how far a battery well last.

I'm going to hold off on buying it right now, but let me know what you think about it after a month or so of use. I'd really like to know how the battery holds up.

I decided to do a quick little test, since I had a international 4200 in the shop after changing out the front wheel bearings.
Start with a full extra capacity battery right out of the charger. Used a 1-5/16 socket. Spun off the lug nuts(hand tighten). Tighten up the lugs with the x4 on both side and lost only 1 battery light. By the time I walked the truck to grab my phone it was showing 4 bars. Then I used the shop 1" IR 285 & it turned the 16 lugs 1/4-1/2 turn.
I'm very happy with this impact.

thanks for the feedback and pix...i thought about it more and more...i think im gunna save a little more and just get the m18 fuel impact wrench, considering with the ridgid i was gunna spend $140 + $120 battery + 50 chanrger = $310 .....i would rather spend extra $120 and just get the milwaukee fuel with almost double the torque of the ridgid (and its adjustable torque switch). i would have jumped on the ridgid if i didnt have to buy new batteries.

Steven,

Thanks again for the update. It's still on my watch list. I have a snap on impact, but the batteries are dead, and I hate to spend $100 to rebuild them, when I have my Ridgid batteries laying around. I could sell the snap on, and buy the ridgid and have the same batteries for all of my cordless tools.

The battery was my issue as well because I was not with any system yet, but ended up going with the Milwaukee
