Well the kubota will hold a beer and even let you plug in your cellphone to charger it. With power steering it is really easy to drive one handed and drink that beer at low speed.

It cost about $8,000 just for the tractor.

As seen in my picture is about $12k with tax and everything.

They are running 42 months 0% right now :)

but a good tractor will last you a life time.

Kubota gets my vote.

I've had my BX24 for 2 years now, its a great machine. Prior to that, I had a BX1500 that I would have kept if I could have put a small backhoe on it.

It gets used for mowing only 20-25% of the time as we only mow just over a acre. We do have lots of woods, creeks, ditches and a long driveway that the tractor maintains. The loader gets use constantly. Its kind of like a pickup truck, You never really appreciate how useful & handy it is until you have one (and then don't have one).

I have just purchased a Honda 3011 and I love it, (so far). All it needed was a battery, found one on the web as well as at the local dealer, each wanted about $100.00. Local auto parts store had a similar size but with different battery post connections for $20.00 (on sale). I was able to slightly modify the connections, works great!!!

Here's a couple of pics of my Dayton. I picked it up a while back when two of my buddies upgraded; one got a really nice Simplicity, the other bought his machine and I bought the second guys machine for $100. Had it apart last summer for some maintenance and repairs but it was running fine when I put it to rest for the winter.

Here's my 1968 IH Cub 125 that I frame-off restored two years ago. The thing is an absolute tank of a tractor. 630 pounds dry weight with no implements. Cast iron 12HP Kohler. I've got a set of winter tires (ags + weights and tri ribs for the front), two snowthrowers, 42" deck and a rear mount tiller. I love my Cub! This replaced a POS throwaway MTD riding mower. Huge difference between a "riding mower" and a "garden tractor"...

I work on a variety on lawnmowers and what have you for aliving now and all I can contribute to this is that I see very few of the older Kohler powered John Deeres, many many MTD's or any other various tin stamped tractor, one or two Kubotas for service, lots of newer John Deeres of the modular hood design, one or two old simplicities and only one or two Kohler powered Wheel Horses when they were heavty Iron trans and axles. If you want to get your money's worth I'd shop around for an older heavy iron mower, something with a heavy iron axle, geared trans and a good solid cast iron Kohler engine. The bueaty about a Kohler is tha tmost can be over hauled for a couple hundered bucks which is resonable enough.
