So with me clearing out the garage to get the floors coated and the walls painted I figured it was time to show everyone what I’ve been working on over the past couple of years. Many of you gave a lot of good insight when I was designing our house and doing the garage layout so I’m quite appreciative for all of the advice. I’ll add more photos as things progress, but here are a bunch of shots from the past couple of years during the build.

Floor is complete. They went heavy around the lift pads to fill them in for me. Pretty happy with the end result. On to drywall prep!

Drywall prep for paint and the heater reinstalled outside the loft. I still need to build a couple of new louvers for it.

Ran out of ceiling paint Wed. night. Started painting the side walls and called it quits at 9:30pm. Looking to finish up with the paint Sat!

That's looking great! Props to you for painting it yourself...I would've been tempted to hire that one out with that high ceiling

Well the garage painted work is finished. I finally put up the trim around the windows in the garage. Next I need to put the flex seal all around the bottom of the exposed drywall edge and install J channel over it.

Nice looking garage. How are you going to access the storage / loft area?

I built a ships ladder that lays up against that. However I’m now considering a mezzanine walkway around the perimeter of the garage with a full staircase.

Had time to run the EMT for the heater thermostat wiring. Put the thermostat behind the heater and centered above the existing light switch.

My builder actually sourced it and installed it when the house was built. That way it could be tied into the homes sewer. It’s a Fernco Stormdrain-plus system. I’m not sure if I’d use it again. I’ve already broken a grate while pulling it up to clean them out. Not sure if it was due to the installation though, as the drain covers seem to be fit pretty tight.

Drawing up the plans now.

Plans for the loft are just a hang out area/man cave. I plan to put couple of couches, bar, mini fridge, TV, and maybe a pool table up there.
