some of you may remember when I bought the RIGID tablesaw on clearance at home depot
original price was $599 or $699
on clearance for $299
I had a project starter coupon and a gift card so the out of pocket cost was about $140
I have 2 other tablesaws but they are bigger and can be a pain to pull out to use sometimes.
for the price I couldnt help myself sp I drug it home

seems to be fairly well built but it was a bit of a pain to assemble. the thing is heavy to handle till you get it on its wheels.
the assembly manual is decent but could be better. the forum on the RIGID website is helpfull and other owners have posted tips which helped.
There were a couple of problems. there were some fasteners missing, I called RIGID and they sent them to me. The motor pully was not properly aligned with the other pully and I could not break the allen setscrew loose to adjust it like they show in the manual. I took it in for service and they could not get it loose either. I called RIGID and told them if the send me another pully and setscrew I would get it taken care of here even if I have to drill or cut the thing. they sent the replacements no problem.
I again got on the RIGID website to find other owners with the same problem and they had the answer as well.
so the saw has been sitting waiting for me to dial in the fence and make a few other tuning adjustment. so friday I needed to cut some stuff so it was time to dial the fence in and put the saw to use.
got the fence close enough with a tape measure (will do some more later with an indicator) and made the first cuts.
the saw runs smooth and makes a great cut. even with the fence needing to be a little further adjusted it still ripped fine
overall I am im impressed with the saw. I think it will serve well and I am encouraged to proceed with some of the upgrades and modifications I have seen some of the other guys do on their forum.
sears has now gone with the granite top on their top of the line tablesaw. they want $1000 for theirs and its made my the same company
I want the zero clearance insert for the top. rigid and sears do not sell them but they are available from Steel City (from what I have been told) and I have also seen how several of the guys have made their own
