Rigid TS3660 motor issues

My TS3660 motor suddenly started making a very loud noise and vibrating. A look online shows the motor is discontinued and am told rebuilding is very expensive.

I removed the belt and motor still makes the noise so is not the arbor. The motor turns smoothly by hand so I do not suspect bearings. As I turn the shaft there seems to be something binding or hanging up in the motor. Starts and turns so not a capacitor.

Any motor cross reference lists or suggestions on best way to proceed greatly appreciated.

The TS2424 is pretty much the same as the last Emerson Cman saw.
A V belt motor from a Cman 315 or such may have the exact same shaft diameter as the ribbed TS2424. That's where I would start on epay anyway.

maybe take a look at the motor plate if it have one and check what frame and what speed and arbor (5/8 according to manual) size then get the one from it..

if it is making noise, probably the centrifugal switch... had the drill press motor that squeal like that. probably not the bearing. Check your yellow page and get a quote from your local motor shop if you are not comfortable disassembling and fixing it.

Don't mean to pick on your site but this is ancient technology, many sites I can copy a picture on the net or off a SD card
and paste in a post, instant gratification.

^^^ not sure if that's an option in the new XenForo that this site is being upgraded too or not.
but, posting pictures on here is not difficult, considering the value you can get back from here. Just saying...

I never liked MACs for the same reason... There are different way to do things, keeping your brain active and ....knowing how things are done. and of cause different stroke for different folks.
