Photo shows my rim painting rig with rim mounted. Wheel on rig has been primed and has color coat applied.
still needs clear coats applied.

Paint inside of hub first, then when dry insert fixtures into hub, tighten fixtures place on jackstands. move by turning rod.

Nice...but I'd like to know more about getting them to the point of painting. I've had several peeling, corroded clear-coated rims over the years. Sometimes with several finishes in different areas on the same rim (mill, polished, painted).

Getting rim to the point of painting. Now that really can be a pain. If rim is not in pretty good shape I would not even try.

If you have aircraft stripper use then maby. Very expensive and toxic, probably need to be dipped.

Then use 3M abrasive pads, I use red and gray to sand. Kombi spot puddy, Once done sanding clean with denatured alcohol. Prime with 2 part high build primer urethane primer. Sand with grey when ready as that will leave no scratches

You might want to try soda blasting.
