I needed one for a repair job and ordered a Tekton from Amazon. It did the job but it was made in china as well. I'm looking for another and will look at SK.

I didn't read every post to understand whTs going on here but I get the consensus that they are all made in China? So what's the big deal then just get the hf ones. I have them and they work fine. 2 of the 3 were a little stiff but none of them broke yet

You about summed it up. Almost all are China, a couple are better quality and/or US made, but not necessarily worth the price difference. There are differing levels of Chinese quality though, and the older versions of most brands seem to be better made. I think the recent market flooding and heavy price competition for hose pliers has really tanked the average quality. Mine are all China made from several years ago and they are well shaped on the outside and they look almost like a machinist drilled a perfect circle through them to make the grabbing surfaces. Newer ones often look oblong, off-center, the tips don't touch, etc.

I don't think there's anything wrong with the HF ones. I don't have any but I want to get some to use for holding things while using a propane torch so my main good hose pliers don't lose their heat treatment.

I know this is an old thread but I wanted to share my experience. I ended up buying the Knipex small spark plug boot plier and it is very well made with the ring end being symmetrical, great fit and finish. I thought I could use it for vacuum hoses but the end is too big for them. I ended up also purchasing the HF black handle set, as mentioned by another member I looked thru all of the sets in the store until I found a decent set where the ends meet, they fit my need and my wallet is happy. Thanks to all that have shared their experiences :)

The best hose/nose ring pliers I’ve used are the Snap On HG410EP and HG416EP pistol grip pliers. Very strong, nicely made and can grab hoses securely.

For hoses that are easy to reach or even clips the knipex 3891200 are great.
