Rinnai EX38CTP Install - direct vent

They are very easy to install. Once the gas line is in place venting (2.5” hole) setting and trimming the unit will take you about two hours. I represented Rinnai for 29 yrs and have sold 300,000+ of them. The vent for a 4.5-9.5” wall comes in the box. The trim does as well and everything fits. the 38 will modulate from 13-38 btu, programmable built in

“Thank you” That’s it? No way man. I’m assuming you are in Minn. How big is the cabin? How big the room it will be installed in. FYI , the 38 is best in a pretty open space. The 22, my preferred model, fires from 8,200-20,500. I know you are looking at the high fire, but much of your comfort in a modulating appliance comes from how low it will go and the 5000 btu difference in the low end is important. As to location, I always install mine under a window. The 9” clearance to the vent is easy to make and windows are generally kinda dead space from a decorating standpoint, so it works out well. The 38 is an excellent unit. I heat my 1000 ft shop with one, but I always try to use the 22 if possible.

It is a smaller cabin - about 1,500 square feet total, with a loft/two rooms upstairs. The heater would be located downstairs on an exterior wall, and would supplement the wood stove. The heater wood be in the open area/kitchen/living room.
I would go with the 22, but goodness, -20 below takes forever to heat up in the winter. I am assuming that the bigger model would work our better, in this case.
