I'm trying to repair a dust boot on a material bin at work and I'm trying to convince my boss to pick up some self clenching studs and a rivet gun. I almost have him convinced but I want to make sure he gets the correct thing so I'm not hosed.

The Rivet Gun
I haven't actually done much riveting and never done studs but these would be blind rivets. We'd drill the hole into the material bin then rivet them in place. I'm pretty sure this is what was done originally but I'm not 100%
I know I don't have a ton of details, the steel wall is probably 3/8" thick at the most and 1/4" at the least but I don't know for sure. It's a material scale and we're losing lots of dust and material because the boots no longer have anything to anchor to.
Anyhow, does it sound like I'm on the right track?
Any details anyone can share would be tremendous! Thank you.
