I have an inexpensive hand rivet gun. No instructions or paperwork with it. I have had it for 15 years and probably have only used it no more than 10 times.

However I went to use it today and the rivet pins were getting stuck in the mechanism.

I was forced to take it apart as it was unusable. Everything looked ok. The spring , jaws, and a cam type of mechanism. Nothing broken or filthy.

I never lubricated it thinking it may effect the grip strength and the pins may slip.

What do folk do? Would a few drops of a light oil in there or a dry lube like silicone be recommended? Or is it better off being left alone.
