Who makes a good hand rivet gun? Someone gave me a HF one and it's terrible. It won't cut the stems off the rivets even if I take the rubber grips off the handles.

I looked at the Arrow ones at Lowes and they look exactly like the ones at HF with slightly different paint.

Does anyone make a decent one?

I have a Marson 39000 which goes for around $40 on amazon but could be had for less on ebay. I bought it to reattach plastic coated aluminum fender rivets, it works great.

The Marson HP2 has always been the go to riveter for small diameter shafts. In the past, do not know about now, they were included in the Snap On sold kits.

Beware however, once you get into stainless rivets of any size, your hand will be hurting after setting a few with this tool (experienced that!!); best used for smaller diameter aluminum.

Marson also makes the HP2 model( same design as HP2 though may be a different #) with a pivoting head.

I've been contemplating ordering this one from Grizzly:

http://www.grizzly.com/products/Heavy-Duty-Lever-Riveter/H6134

But, I know nothing about it other than it appears to be well built judging by the picture, and it's only $15.75.

I'm also concerned that I might run into clearance issues with the long handled design as opposed to the more compact Stanley unit above. I wish Grizzly had a review section on thier site.

Anyone have any experience with this riveter, or the long handled type in general?

I have used a Marson that is made like that for setting nut serts but they are over $200 the last time I checked. Short of an air powered unit, they are the easiest way to set threaded inserts or stainless rivets.
