I've pickup up a 10in 1/2hp craftsman drill press and the chuck has Rj33-13l stamped onto it. I need to find a chuck key and a manual for the press. Can someone help me out? I can't seem to find a part number on the actual press so I can't search the internet for a manual. The motor has a serial number and a production date of 1989. i have a 3/8 chuck and it works but seems I can't seem to tighten up the chuck very well. The key seems a little too loose.

I also have this problem. I read on another form that a K3 key will work, but it does not. :( anyone know this answer?

Do you have the means to accurately measure the pilot hole diameter?

What is the exact problem with the K3 key? Too big, too small, teeth not meshing properly, taste funny?

Is it a press or a drill press? ;)

I believe K32 is the correct key for a 33 series drill chuck.

I know this thread is long dead but I'm posting this here for the benefit of any future Googlers who wound up with an RJ33-13L chuck with no key. A Jacob's 30251 1/2" (13mm) key with a 1/4" pilot is what you need. RJ33-13L is an obsolete Wilton chuck. FYI.

Thanks to the only post by "oodeftone" I found a new chuck at lowes for less than $5 to replace a missing chuck key. It was hard to find in the tool world section but they had about 4 sizes in stock.

I had to bump a years old thread- but just spent an hour trying to find a SELF-EJECTING key for my newly Craigslist acquired 2/3 HP 10" craftsman drill press.

Called Jacobs - they don't make a self ejecting.

Called McMaster and they claim they DO have a compatible key - not manufactured by Jacobs but 3rd party. It's part number 8815A19

Search on their site and under drill chuck keys either scroll or 'command+f' or 'control+f' and input 8815A19

It's K32 compatible and self ejecting - $11.19.

Will be delivered tomorrow so if it works I'll try and confirm here.

Hope this helps someone else w/ this odd chuck.

Update- works great and self-ejecting.

Even fits in the factory holding location (stretches the plastic a tad, as i'm not using the thinner handle but the larger part of the shaft before it gets to the gear end.
