I found this in the middle of the road last night. It a Milwaukee Magnum 1/2" drill Model 0234-1.There's paint all over the cord but it works fine. It was missing the chuck key.A friend of mine who only uses Milwaukee dropped off an extra key to me tonight. It's defiantly been used and probably abused but it was free so I can't complain.

nice find!!! i never get to see anything like that laying in the middle of the road out around here! kind of low power for a 1/2" drill but a keeper for sure! i have a milwaukee drill and the build quality is outstanding.

A corded drill just laying in the middle of the road in a single piece? Crazy nice find!

I know an old heavy equipment operator that told his son to be a machinist because you'll never find a lathe stuck in the snow bank. With this discovery that might change things!

Milwaukees are great, easily and cheaply rebuilt should they ever die. Ive got a few examples that are proving impossible to kill however.

Ironically enough, I almost had one of the bigger Milwaukee cordless sets last summer but the driver of the utility truck it fell off of stopped to pick it up.

It has the treaded ports for either left or right handed grip. I've got the same model, and enjoyed it for many years use.

Haven't found any real vaulable items, but have picked up over a number of years, sledge hammer, an almost new 4ft aluninum step ladder, a Cresent adjustable wrench, a couple of box end wrenches, an almost new 14.5 trailer tire and rim-(10 ply), it was in the ditch.
Fun finds though.

I found an Allen wrench in my driveway today. The odd thing is it's the third one I've found there this year, and none of them were mine.

I found a back pack style blower used for cleaning streets. I couldn't justify keeping it so had it in a yard sale for $200.00. My wife sold it for $100.00 when I wasn't looking. I believe it fell off a city work truck as I found it just around the corner from the city yard.

I found a 110v transformer on the side of the road, it looked like someone had just got fed up with carrying It ,
I also picked up two very large boxes of ducting ,rang the company number on the box
They sent a guy to pick it up and gave me £40 for saving their bacon,

I once came across a car that had crashed into a ditch, had a quick look to see if anyone was hurt then realised that the police had already been by the police aware sticker
Then something caught my eye , Passports , loads of the them ,maybe 30 or 40 scattered in front , I rang the police to have a proper look , spoke to a dopey copper who failed to understand the implications of a lot of passports just lying about until I spelt it out to him

I drive A LOT and come across things all the time. My best scores or ones that I remember are....

7' fiberglass ladder
wet/dry shop vac
complete 100+ piece Stanley mechanic tool set in case
grease gun
funnels
Milwaukee cordless drill

Of course the random screwdrivers and sockets here and there. Just the other day a brand new hammer was laying in the middle of the road. It amazes me actually how much stuff I come across. I once stopped and picked up a pile (about 15 or so) 4"x4"x8' treated wood posts. Gave those to a friend building a deck. Crazy how people don't secure their load.

The only things I've ever gotten from the road were a 1/2" GearWrench which looked like it had gone through a wood chipper and a Kershaw pocket knife. The GearWrench still worked so it's in my box, and I've been carrying the Kershaw for over half of my life.

I'd probably find more if I drove with my eyes open, but everything else on the road is bigger and scarier than me.

I found this little Husky 1/4" socket set- just lying on the shoulder, shut and intact. Hardly any damage to the box, really looked like normal wear. Made me wonder if someone had been using it to fix his car and drove off and left it.:dunno:

It's for sale- I've already got plenty of 1/4" drive stuff.

Ive found a few pairs of channelocks, a 12" long 3/8" snap on extension, and various sockets and screwdrivers.

Found one huge fiberglass extension ladder on the highway. When I pulled over and ran back to grab it I saw that it had been hit by a truck or something. It was beyond repair. :(

My latest find was a 3/4" drive ratchet on a bridge over the local river. I couldn't stop on the bridge but a short walk up the apron was worth it. Also, I've found an almost new Klein hacksaw, a newer 12" Cresent adjustable, !5' 5/16" galv truckers chain, several random end wrenches, an iphone (smashed), a nice set of pruning shears.

An old friend of my Mom who rode his bike several miles daily had a big box of tools he had found over the years. It looked like an almost complete set but a neighborhood punk stole it and most every other tool he had.

Lots of fishing/boating where I live. I always find lifejackets on the road. I used to pick them up, but I have so many now, I don't even bother anymore.

Found a hacksaw once. Then there was the time I stopped on a rural highway to check my trailer tire (trailer brake had seized). While I was working on it, my Dad (who has incredible luck) was standing nearby in the bar ditch, looked down, and there was a Craftsman 3/8 ratchet. Makes you wonder what all is in the grass alongside our nation's highways.

Found a 25' Senco 1/4" air hose once that some shinglers obviously didn't secure in their truck (was accompanied by a couple cedar fascia boards). Actually found a lot of tools on the side of the road in Anchorage.

Also found a broken Craftsman 1/2" drive 13/16" spark plug socket on the rock in front of the rear drivers tire in the picture below. I was smart enough to bring it to Sears for a new one instead of leaving it like litter out there :D.

Found a rare black angus filet in the road once, complete with cream spinach.

actually what I found was a huge bag of HVAC tools, Klein nutdrivers, cordless impact, cordless Dewalt drill, charger, bits, fluke tester, gauges (a bunch of really expensive stuff) in the road across from a house I was working on late on a Friday afternoon - contacted the people who lived there (renters) and they thought they knew the name of the company that had worked on the ac, but gave me the landlords name, who was a total paranoid wacko and wouldn't give me the a/c company name and wanted me to give the bag to him.

Just didn't feel right about it, so I told him nope.....

Monday, I called every a/c company in the phone book and got lucky on about the fifteenth call. The girl that answered the phone said the guy who lost it was in a panic, had a baby on the way, no way he could afford to buy the tools again. Talked to the guy on the phone and he described every tool in the bag, couldn't stop thanking me for returning it - he was on the road and wanted me to leave my phone number with the bag -- I dropped it off at his office while he was out working that day, and left my business card with the receptionist.

Two weeks later got a card to Ruth's Chris in the mail. :bounce:

Sure was good!

Few years later found another smaller bag with some of the same stuff in it - never could find the owner.

Strange place to be changing a spark plug. :headscrat

Not exactly. That trail gets a decent amount of traffic.

I'd bet they were using it on a lugnut, hence the breakage. I think 13/16" is a common Jeep lugnut. All my stuff is 7/8" though :headscrat

Found a really nice Buck ~2" folder that was a pretty good caping knife in the snow when I was unloading my ATV. Carried it in my pocket while hunting for years. Was recently back in AK and couldn't find it :(.

Yeah, I used those on custom wheels with the large lug nuts & the small holes that the nuts go into.
