So my Dad has this tool box that he has had for eons. He takes it on every trip that we are using the trailer, or camper, or going to get an old rig, or anything like that. It is full of tools that he hasn't replaced in over 40 years. And if you don't put them back in THE EXACT SAME WAY THEY CAME OUT, you will NEVER get the lid shut.

So I am putting together my own box, and I was looking for input as to what "Essential" tools you guys think should be in a classic flip top 18" metal
tool box. I am putting my old craftsman stuff in there, as I replace it with new Snap-On (or equal) tools.

I have always just worked out of my big boxes at work or at home in the Garage. I know a lot of the basics, but I figured you guys would have some handy insight, and other guys may also benefit from this thread as well.

Lets get a good list going here.
(Yes, I tried a search before posting)

Thanks,
Munsk.

First are you talking strictly Metric, of SAE? Truck or car? other vehicles? (trailer? and if so what kind.)

Is this for a specific vehicle, or for several?

Then past tools what "consumables" are needed, and what basic parts are you willing to carry?

Once you answer that, what are you up to working on while on the road, and are there any vehicle specific tools?

(and yes, this has been covered, several times in just the past 6 months)
