Thank you! No, we are going to keep the seams :) We have a set of sportspack arches and some 13x7 alley cats to go on the car when it gets out of the body shop. [/IMG]

I would recommend against 13's for a tracked mini. It messes with the geometry of the car alot more than you would think. If your just driving it around town its great though!

My Mini had 13's on it when I had it imported, ran like that for 2 years and replaced all the suspension for the track. I was then recommended by multiple Mini owners to go back to 10's which the car originally came with... and what a difference, it was truly night and day.

Thanks for the input. Nice to hear real world experience from someone. I have heard that 13s aren't the ideal option for a mini that sees track time. We haven't purchased brakes yet so we still have the option to buy some that will allow the use of 10s as well. Maybe have a set of 10s for the track and some 13s for the street if we can keep the overall diamter/offset relatively the same.

I had some put together this 27" Homak tool chest the other night. My first tool box, actually. Can you believe it?!? It's nice to a place to organize my tools and not just throw them in a bag...

I also assembled this Torin 1500lb folding engine stand. This should allow me to get the R1 motor for the Mini off the floor and easily be able to move it around. I think I will need to make some custom brackets to mount it to the stand but shouldn't be too terribly difficult.

So I've been sizing up the garage over the past couple of days and trying to figure out where I want my work bench to be. Along the back wall of the garage looks to be about the best place for the bench. I've been talking with my father-in-law and he wants to make a steel workbench for me. The plan would be to make this a folding work bench so that I could still access the attic door (poor planning on the original build!). The bench could be up to 8' long so that's plenty of space. If anyone has ever done a folding bench or has any pics/suggestions I'd be happy to see/hear them! Oh, and those shelves will be coming down... they are sketchy

Mini update: Halle-damn-lujah...the seats finally arrived from Hong Kong. And they weren't soaking wet! lol Next step is to mock them up in the car and get started on the roll bar. More pics to come :)

Made a little more progress on the garage this afternoon. I was a little bummed at first about the safe room taking up a lot of space in the garage but I figured out today that I could store stuff on top of it so that's nice. Slowly making my way through all of our stuff and figuring out where everything should go... blegh

Now it's a Ford garage

This is a CNC cutout of my home track, Hallett. I have one in my office as well.

Not much to report as far as the garage goes. Still trying to unpack and tidy up the place from the move a few weeks ago. Here are some updates on the cars:

Test fitting the new seats and mocking up where the main hoop of the roll bar needs to be.

Boot fitted. Needs a little adjusting

LH door initially fitted. Needs some gap work. Unfortunately the RH door skin we ordered from the UK ended up being a LH skin :( Gotta wait for a new one to ship out...

Over the weekend spent a little time working on the mustang. A buddy and I scraped a TON of sound deadener and seam sealer out of the car. Terrible job. I also had a friend help me weld in my new seat mount and get race seat set up.

Welded in. I went back and painted everything later.

Oh and I also put in a NRG short hub adaptor, quick release and suede race wheel. Turned out well

Congrats on the new house. Oh to have a 3 car garage. I see a TWS sticker on the back of the car as well.

I have some track art as well (Road Atlanta & the Ring), except it's out of wood. Got it from linear edge.

Thank you.

Yes, I went to TWS last year and it was awesome. I'm used to a small track so seeing 150 on the front straight was quite the ride.

I checked out some of the Linear Edge stuff before I bought my art. Looks like good quality.

Road Atlanta is on my bucket list!

Been awhile since I've posted an update. Just a few small things. Still working on figuring out what I want to do for a work bench.

Rigged up a bracket so I could mount the bike engine on the car engine stand. Turned out well! And it hasn't fallen off yet so I'll count that as a win.

Really like the toys, I built mustangs for 10 years or so before I met my wife, and have been in the Mini game now for about 8 or so now. If you ever want to talk mini's shoot me a message. I have a few Mini builds going on right now:

McGee's Custom Minis

I sadly concur with the 10" wheel. I ran 13's for almost 7 years, and just switched to 10's last winter. 12's are somewhat of a compromise of styling/weight/ride quality. But it's hard to beat 10's. I am loving the Yoko A032r's. We will see how long they hold up. Cheers.

I am really looking forward to seeing more of that Mini! I'm a muscle car guy at heart, but I've got a soft spot for those little things.

Roll bar is being installed this week so stay tuned!

Thanks! Cool to see someone else who done both mustangs and minis. And from some of your pictures you do GREAT work.

Good info on the wheel size and tires. We bought some cheapy tires to run at first until we get everything sorted out. My wife really likes the look of the 13s and is OK with the cons that they come with, as compared to 10s. The car will be tracked but she won't be racing it or anything.

I like where this thread is going, sounds like it will be a nice clean garage that really gets used too. Who doesn't love that!!?

X...

Thank you, sir! I checked out your garage thread and you have an awesome space.

A quick suggestion on the DIY ramps, if you cut the edges on an angle, it'll make for a much easier climb up:
IMG_0682.jpg

They also stack much easier this way:
IMG_0683.jpg

I originally had that same thought but was in a hurry to make these. I only use them to get my car on/off the trailer and my winch pulls it up just fine. Thank you for the suggestion! Great looking M3

Time for some updates!

Unfortunately, I did a little damage to my mustang a few weeks back :( I was at Hallett for a private day and went off coming out of turn 9 (the "*****"), putting the car through a fence during the first session. It was driver error, as I was on the throttle too hard/early coming out of the corner and tried to save it. I hit the fence post almost head on, which bent it in half and somehow got lodged in the transmission tunnel. I was fine but it did damage the bumper cover, lower fascia, splitter, radiator, and splitter bracket.

We got the car back to my paddock and started trying to locate a radiator. The local autoparts store that delivers to the track didn't have a replacement on hand, but the race shop at the track happened to have a C&R aluminum radiator (upgrade!!) laying around that they had used on another car. I wasn't planning on upgrading the radiator that day but they cut me a killer deal and I really wanted to get the car back out on track, both for my sake and to show everyone else that a little run-in with a fence couldn't keep me down, so I jumped on it!

I have some AWESOME friends who helped my tear down the front, replace the radiator, cut off broken pieces, and zip tie everything up. I think they kind of enjoyed cutting up the car lol. I missed one session and was back out on track. Car ran flawless until the cool down lap and I barely had any travel on my clutch pedal. Made it back to the paddock and the pedal was gone. I could start the car but couldn't get in any gear. Turned out that clutch line was broken and I was leaking fluid. My guess is the fence post damaged it... I was done.

Even a bad day at the track is still a good day ;D I've already started gathering parts to fix body damage and should have her fixed up soon.

On a happier note, my father-in-law gave me an air compressor for my birthday. It's a Jobsmart (no-name) 26 gal compressor from Tractor Supply but it should handle the low amount of abuse I'll put it through. I plan on running some grinder/cut-off tools and maybe an impact off of it.

I also bought my first drill. It's almost sad to say that I didn't have my own, but I've been "borrowing" a corded drill from my parents for the last few years. This thing rocks!

Now that you have been bit by the new improved cordless tools there is no turning back. I bought the Dewalt 20v Max drill and 1/4" impact driver last year and now have the circular saw, reciprocating saw, jig saw, and am looking at getting the 1/2" impact as well. The batteries charge fast and they seem to handle anything I throw at them thus far. **** about the car, but it could have been much worse and now you have an upgraded radiator!

Awesome Mustang man! Congrats on the new home as well, there are a few examples of folding work benches on here. I know that Jack Olson has one in his "12 Gauge Garage". Just search that and you will find it.

I LOVE my 1/2" impact. Don't know how I survived without it...

After 8 years with her Toyota Yaris, my wife was ready for a new vehicle. So here is the newest garage resident. 2015 Ford Explorer Sport. Finally got her into a Ford :)

Cool car and cool garage. I am a trackday guy as well but with bikes. I had always wanted to make it Hallet when I lived in Texas but never got the chance to.
