Roaster Oven Temperature knob broke.

Actually, it didn't break, I pulled it off at a tailgate as the roaster wasn't fitting in the box that we were carrying everything in and was afraid it was going to break. So I took it off and as would be the case, everything went flying. It was dark and we couldn't find anything but the knob.

It looked like it could have been just a nail that was put in there to hold the knob on but I am not sure.

I haven't had much luck with internet searches for how to put it back together/on.

I've tried several different sized nails and pieces of metal but for the life of me, can't figure out how to get it back on snugly. It slides over the top and I can adjust the temperature but it falls off.

Any ideas or help would be appreciated. Thanks

Here is a pic.

You lost a part. there's supposed to be a little metal clip in the knob that fits on the long side of the 'D' shape, to provide tension to hold it on the shaft.
