Anyone know about these machines? Just bought a used (barley) Robinair 17800B recovery / recycle machine for my home shop. It was bought from a closed down shop at auction so I am stuck with it so I need to get it working.

All of the fuctions start but does not matter if I am trying to recover, recycle, fill the unit from a fresh tank of 134 I get a HI-P (High Pressure) message and the function stops. Ive checked all the trouble shooting in the manual and talked to tech support at Robinair (They were no help other than offering a number to a repair man)

Ive hoping this is a common issue someone can give some pointers on. It looks near brand new and the run meter only shows 5 lbs of refrigerent has gone though the filter.

thanks in advance

This may sound stupid but have you tried flipping tank upside down? We have Robinair machines at work and one will not fill w/ tank upright. It's the damndest thing.

Does it have a high pressure gauge? I wonder if it has got air or nitrogen in it, that would cause the pressure to go high.

Is the valve on your source tank open?

Possibly a clogged filter :dunno:

That's why the service techs decal with his phone number is attached to the machine.

We use the 980hs at work and if it sits for awhile the solenoids inside tend to stick. We tap the valve body lightly and it will usually free it up. Also make sure all your electronic valves are plugged in, or better yet unplug and replug all of your electronic connections. Make sure to check your calibration also, or it will never charge properly. Best of luck, our machine tends to be a pain in the ***.

Yes the source tank is upside down.

It has 3 gauges but none show pressure to high.

That the most logical explanation I have gotten so far. I will try that.

Thanks everyone
