Between 705 & 1200 SQ/FT Roboto's Garage

They sure are bright, had them on my previous house's soffits and you had no problem seeing anyone at the door.

You sure won't have any problem finding the right key and putting it into the lock.

The photo makes them look a bit brighter than they really are due to the exposure... but they're definitely bright!

In other news, I extended the Gladiator GearTrack an extra 6 feet to the right to meet the new door. I had some storage cabinets in this area previously that I moved, but still wanted to make use of the space without taking up any floor space or having anything stick out from the wall too far. And home depot has a "special buy" on a kit with two, 8-foot sections with a variety of hooks, so I figured what the heck. Still need to do some more organizing and hang a few more things up.

Next up on the to-do list is to add a second switch for my garage lights located next to the new door from the addition so that I can flip them on without having to walk in the dark over to the only switch next to the old man door.

They are now 100% done with everything I’ve hired them out to do. They came back to bang out the gutters just in time before our first snowfall. I’m actually shocked, they didn’t take a single cent from me until the very end when it was completely done. Fine with me!

Here’s the house sits now. Between the porch and the addition, im Happy with the facelift. Still need to finish painting some trim to get rid of the last of that ugly maroon, and do the shutters in the spring.

It probably doesn’t come through in the pictures from so far away, but a lot of them are pretty warped from the beating sun we get on the front of the house. I’d also like to switch over to the raised panel style from these louvered ones, so they’ll be getting replaced.

Well, the interior of the addition is completely unfinished, so getting all the electrical run, insulation up, drywall hung, taped & mudded, putting a floor down, and building all of the benches/coat racks/cubbies etc is where most of my time to spend on projects will be going. Tossing the idea around about building a second deck off the back of the addition as well that will connect to the existing deck.... we'll see though.

Still working in the garage too.... did an oil change on my wife's Subaru this weekend. My last area to organize is the entire right wall of the garage next to the lift, as you can see in this picture. The cabinet in the rear corner is a piece of junk, but it mostly holds all my detailing supplies. Need to think about what I want to do there.

Couple small updates... I got an Echo Dot for the garage that I hooked up out there. For 25 bucks, it solved a few issues I've been having. 1) my radio reception out there is terrible. Now I can just tell Alexa to play whatever station I want and it comes in crystal clear since it's on the wifi. 2) Now I can listen to Pandora without having to boot up the PC I have out there. Much easier. And 3) now when my hands are a mess or I'm in the middle of something and I want to change the song, I can just yell at Alexa to do it without having to drop what I'm doing.

Also, I forgot about this small old sub-woofer I came across in my basement during a recent clean up. It actually made a big difference. I was surprised, since it had such a big space to fill. It was small enough to tuck away in the corner on top of the cabinets too.

And.... my grandfather called me about an issue hes having with his TV. I went with him about 7 years ago to buy this 46" Samsung LED that was pretty high end at the time. Now, the top 1/3 has vertical lines running across it. It's there on all inputs, so there's something going on. Not totally surprised, since it's on just about all day long to keep him company. I grabbed him a new 50" LED for a mere 220 bucks (crazy how cheap you can get a TV these days). He asked me to throw this one out for him, but I kept it for now. I'll either do some research to try and fix it, or just use it as is if it's a panel issue that cannot be repairs. It's just going to be on in the background, so the lines won't bother me too much. I'll probably wall mount it along the back wall above my toolbox.

Honestly, that's what will end up happening. Too much other stuff on the to-do list to take care of right now than to worry about fixing a tv that will already serve the purpose just fine. I picked up a wall mount for it, just need to get it mounted.

The Dots are great. They do a lot for the 30 bucks or so that they cost. My wife hates technology, and she even loves them. She gets a kick out of asking Alexa to turn various lights on/off and to play music.

Speaking of Technology, I started on my latest project: new gaming PC build. I've been busting my *** at work so I decided to treat myself to a little Christmas present. I'm still waiting for the graphics card and RAM to come in, but it's most of the way built up.

Hah, no, there wont be a VR or Simulator/cockpit setup for me! I'll never have the time to use them enough to make the purchase worth it. I have been playing my fair share of Battlefield V, though.

I’ve had this old 37” tv since 2006... it’s super heavy, and super thick... but will serve the garage just fine for now, considering I’ve just had it sitting in my basement unused for the last 4 years or so. Planning to get a longer cable and use the PC I have out there to drive it. Will just be used mostly for background noise when I’m out there working.

Take a look at the Logitech Bluetooth receiver. I added one, as I don't really have a need for anything more than BT music from the phone. Cheap, and has RCA outputs.

Cool! The Alexa has the ability to connect to bluetooth as well, so it's a bluetooth adapter with a whole lot more functionality for what I think is a pretty great price. I've been using mine alot, it's nice to just walk out an instantly start playing music without having to fumble with my phone or connect anything to bluetooth.

We still play a lot of the games we played back in the day. Battlefield 2, Counterstrike Source, Rocket League, Unreal Tournament, Quake live etc... we keep it old school when we're together. Just about all new games have done away with LAN support and are online only now, so we don't have much choice.
