I have been using them steadily for about 6 months.

Everything has been as described, and all transactions have been flawless, and they have fast shipping.

Pay attention to the checkout since sometimes items are in different warehouses so there is a extra shipping charge for those items.

If it is a small item it may not be worth it.

I needed 1 pushrod for a 318 poly - all the local stores were $12 each - rock auto was $16 for 8 !!

Ive been buying from them for years (at least 5 years?), most my stuff comes out of Iowa or Indy for me, and If I order before 4pm, 9 out of 10 times, FedEx ground has it at my door the next morning by 8:30am. Great Brands Great Prices, very reasonable shipping, super service.

Ive only had one order problem, last year I bought a set of rotors, the part numbers matched each other on the boxes, and appeared factory sealed, but one rotor clearly didn't fit the Acura I was working on, I sent an email describing my problem the next day I had a replacement rotor and they told me to pitch the wrong one. Id say I buy from them at least 2 times a month. I highly recommend them.

I found them by accident searching the web. I ordered some parts and had no issues with them. I found what I wanted for a good price as I would have had to search around locally for it. I had a discount coupon but can't seem to find it. If anyone has one, I would appreciate it.

I used them to get Mevotech frt. stab. links for my '06 Escape when NOONE else had them (intergalactic b.o., n/a, etc..I work @ an indee garage an even our private parts wholesalers could not get them for me)" and they were priced very nice and so far, since about 2 years ago when I put them on, no probs.. I've got brakes and whatnot as well. Very fast shipping even when the parts are noted at different warehouse locations.

I had an' 01 Durango a while ago and my front grille got smashed. Instead of $200 chrome plated one from Chrysler, I opted for Rockauto's $40 one....I know, I know...you get what you pay for. Needless to say it was destroyed during the install process because it was like 1mm thick incredibly cheap quality plastic, but, like I mentioned. Had to get the Chrysler one.

For hard parts, they're definitely a go!!!

I have never used them personally, but know friends who have and have nothing but great transactions with them.

I have bought parts from them for a couple of years now and had zero problems.

They ship quickly and package things pretty well too.

I just bought about $1500 worth of parts for a brake/suspension rebuild project.
The bad: Everything is drop shipped from the manufacture so you end up paying a lot for shipping. Especially if it's heavy stuff like springs. I think I had $200 in shipping.

The good: One of my brake calipers was poorly packed and broke during shipping. I contacted them via email and promptly received a return label with shipping paid. Very painless.

Overall, very good prices and worth dealing with.

I've used them for several gm parts, There prices are way better than the dealer and that's even with my shop discount. You might have to wait a few days but the savings is worth it.

I have used them for quite some time, very happy with prices and quality.

Also their on-line catalog is very educational.

You can learn what fits and what doesnt by looking carefully.

I started using them recently. I am impressed with the brands and selection of the parts, the quick shipping and the prices. They sell the brands that the local independents used to sell at substantially less than the store brands at the big chain parts places.

A+ in my book.

I have used them for some hard to find suspension parts, and everything was as described. They also keep a record of your car and send you emails telling about discontinued or reduced price items for that car. I don't know for certain, however, I have a strong suspicion that they are owned or affiliated with Dorman Products. Dorman is one of those companies that does a lot of repackaging of name brand parts and sells to all the auto parts stores under many different labels such as HELP... Really doesn't matter much since they are always reliable...

I just got some brake drums from them today. Guess what? They are Made in the USA! I am impressed, since these are the heavy duty finned drums and they were each over $15 less than the chinese un-finned ones at the big chain stores. You rock, Rock Auto!

another thumbs up for rockauto. i have been ordering from them regularly for two years now for side jobs on friends, neighbours cars etc. Never had a problem. They get the order out the door real fast. photos on the catalog are 99% accurate. they also list the available rebates in the catalog.

only thing is that their 'interactive' catalog *****, just click on the 'traditional' catalog link. they also have a multiple shopping cart feature, which is extremely handy, i can keep track of several different parts for different cars.

I love RockAuto. The only downside to them is shipping cost. It's very expensive, and it's not as if you can order a few items more to make the shipping worth while.

Most of the time, when you add a new item, the shipping goes up dramatically. Mainly because they ship from so many different locations.

If they could just give you a flat rate for shipping (up to certain weights and sizes of course), I would buy way more stuff from them.

I've been a rockauto customer for a couple of years. They generally have a more complete parts inventory for my vehicles. Fast shipping and very informative regarding your orders... Decent prices too. Can't go wrong with them.

Buy from them often, just don't like that if I order 4 things, a lot of times I have to pay for shipping from 4 different warehouses. Gonna be able to cover the entire fridge soon with the magnets they stick in every shipment

+1 for rockauto....

I have used them many times...great experience all around.

I particularly like the fact that, for planned maintenance projects on my daily drivers (like a brake job, for example) I can order up all the parts and have them arrive during the week.

Then when the first (usually a weekend) day comes along that I can make some time to do the project, I can tear into it first thing in the AM, instead of wasting a good chunk of my Saturday morning at the auto parts store, only to find out that they don't have something that I need, "...we have to order it and it will be here tomorrow....", or, I wind up having to drive around town to every other auto parts store to see if they (might) have it...

For me, the time saved and convenience are way, WAY worth the shipping charges...And the parts are virtually always cheaper to start with.

+1 so far. Put my first order in last Tuesday night(processed Wednesday) and the second half of it should arrive tomorrow. Got some spring shackles, hangers, and bushings for the back of my ranger truck. Got everything for $160 shipped which was about $80-100 cheaper than any of auto part stores I priced it all at. Most didn't even have everything I needed. Gotta watch shipping on some things though. I was gonna order some bolts and didn't because they wanted $6-7 bucks to ship two bolts.

what happens when there's a core? do they pay for return shipping, or are you responsible for that too? that can start getting expensive. auto parts are heavy!

I am a big fan of Rock Auto. The interactive catalog offers you a great selection, and also give you a lot of information about each part. I usually use them for larger purchases (ex: a brake overhaul might require reman'd calipers, pads and hoses) and make sure they products come out of the same warehouse to save on shipping costs.

Rock is a good company. They're primarily a drop shipper, listing real-time inventory of various large wholesale warehouse across the country. You place your order, it ships out of that wholesale warehouse, or direct from the manufacturer's distribution center.

The big stickler for me is the multiple shipping charges if you want to order multiple parts that are all in different locations. This is the trouble with a drop-shipping company, they're decentralized, and with the low profit margins they can't absorb the additional shipping cost so they pass it directly to the end customer.

FYI, Amazon uses many of the same drop shipping warehouses that Rock uses. The upside to using Amazon, even if the price is a little higher, is the free shipping over $25 (make sure it is a part actually sold by Amazon itself) and no additional shipping fees if the parts come out of different warehouses. Thus I tend to use Amazon for very large parts orders or orders that are very heavy.

Rock gets my business for lighter parts that they show all shipping out of the same location.

Although, lately, I will admit that Advance Auto's online promotions have made them very competitive. Just bought a motor mount from Advance that was $44.95, minus $15 off $40, brought the total to $32.35 with tax... zero wait, they had it in stock at my local store. Rock has the same brand mount $23.79 + 7.53 ship = $31.32... would have saved a buck, but woud likely have had to wait 2-3 days for the mount.

Even though Rock's pricing is really good, factor in shipping and B&M store discounts, and it definitely pays to shop around depending on the part and the urgency of repair.

I use Rock Auto more and more.
I needed a marine intake and head gasket set for a Vortec 350 boat motor. Searched the web and found sets from $200 to $300 on the marine parts websites. Found a fel-pro part number and plugged it into Rock Auto and voila- they had it and it was $140, at least $60-80 cheaper than the marine guys. Plus with the discount code I saved another $4.

Ordered it Tuesday and got it Friday. Thumbs-up
