Just wanted to add my 2 cents on Rock Auto.

The power driver's window on my wife's jeep recently stopped working, and I needed a replacement motor/regulator/track (all one piece on this truck).

I found the part for $75 on Rock Auto, but decided to try locally to aviod the shipping cost and delay.

I first called a local NAPA, and was quoted $175. Then I tried Advance, and was quoted $290! :shocking: I even read them the Doorman part # from Rock Auto, to make sure we were talking about the same part. Yup, that's the one...$290!

Needless to say, I ordered the part from Rock Auto. Even after 3-day shipping (which was delivered in 2 business days), the total cost was less than $90. And the window works great.

I can also vouch for Rock Auto.

I've ordered several hundred dollars worth of parts from them, and have never had a problem.

The only thing is that if you are ordering brake rotors or heavy parts, then the shipping costs become prohibitive.

They also sell Motorcraft and AC Delco parts, which a lot of stores don't stock.

Personally, I would rather browse Rock Auto at 2 am in my underwear and buy what I need and pay the shipping rather than deal with the counter person at NAPA, and have to order the parts anyway.

I would rather run around outside at 2 am in my underwear in the New England winter than deal with most parts stores counterpersons.

Also, another  for Rock Auto.

Like everyone else here, Rockauto.com all the way. Prices are great,
customer service is tops, shipping is quick. The only time I go to
an auto part store now is if I need the part immediately.

I had a problem with Rock Auto recently....they shipped me the wrong serpentine belt not once but twice. However they let me keep the two belts and refunded my money.

I have spent loads of money with RockAuto and have nothing but great words for them.
They have saved me hundreds of dollars over our shop cost at local parts houses.

I always use RockAuto for myself and sometimes my customers. Always the lowest prices, and very fast shipping. My best purchase from there was a fuel pump for an early 90's S10 pickup, I paid around $80, for the exact same part I couldn't get it locally for under $320. RockAuto ROCKS!

I even use RockAuto. I work for the biggest auto parts chain in the US and RockAuto still beats what I can buy parts for.

I too have used Rock Auto for quite a few purchases. I have been completly happy.

Just one thing to watch out for when ordering. They have a few different warehouses around the country. Some item are only stocked in some warehouses. Therefore, an order with many item may ship from more than one warehouse. This can add to the shipping costs but it is shown before finalizing the order.

I used to work at a parts store, got 10% over cost there. Half the time it was still cheaper with shipping to order through rockauto on the same exact part number.

Sometimes I can find motorcraft parts cheaper through amazon. So double check.

They also sell Motorcraft........

I may have to look into them. It may be an alternative for my oil filters since I absolutely refuse to deal w/ the Ford dealer in town (long story) and the next nearest dealer is almost 20 miles away (I know, not horrible, but still an hour roundtrip).

I'm pretty sure wal-mart sells these too. They have a lot of motor craft products.

I love RA. Still can't get over how fast I get my stuff and I never use anything but the base shipping. Now I've started getting discount codes by email every few weeks for 5% off.

My fridge has about 20 magnets on it.

Another thumbs up for Rock Auto - they have lots of parts for older, obscure cars also. Be sure to register your cars on their website because they will periodically email closeout parts for your model that are a true bargain.

This is the only problem I have using them over the FLAPS. If they send me the wrong part I am out a lot of time waiting. I do use them for customer vehicles, but only if the part isn't available locally or if NAPA would have to get it shipped in (I have to pay for the freight then).
Anyone ever delt with a warranty issue with them? I'm thinking wheel bearing here, has anyone had to warranty a wheel bearing with them?

I've never had to warranty anything with them. Although I think I plan to in the future. I have replaced this window regulator 3 times so far, they all fail in about a year. These new style cable regualators are garbage. Everyone likes to use them too. The rock auto one came with a 2 year warranty. So, we'll see. I frequently have problems getting the right belts locally, but when this happens its always store brand belts. I don't have this problem if I just get a dayco or a gates. So if I was to order a belt from RA I would def get a premium brand. In fact I've become a big fan of the dayco belts. Check this out: heres a cool link for a FREE little tool from dayco.

With an item in your cart, look for the delivery truck symbol next to the item number when looking for additional parts, meaning that the particular item ships from the same warehouse. I always try to add an additional part or two from the same warehouse that I might need down the road if possible, as it usually adds very little to the shipping unless it's a large and/or heavy item.

Yep. They don't try to hide shipping costs and the whys of the costs at all. The cart is constantly updated without going through to a "final" checkout.
Shipping is reasonable too as compared to some places.

Ive been buying for at least 5 years, not sure when I started, Ive dropped thousands there, they are my main source for parts. All the shipping/packaging errors have been handled instantly, nothing but praise for them from me. If I order before 7pm, I get most my orders THE NEXT MORNING!!!! I'm sitting between 3 of their "warehouses", and the service is FedEx ground. Sometimes I wait up to 3 days, but for the prices, its well worth it.

I have been buying from them here recently and have had good luck. I have noticed that sometimes it may not be worth it if your just buying one or two some parts and shipping may make the price of the item the same, or slightly higher, that a local store. (i.e. brake pads, wiper blades, etc.)

I just got done replacing my whole steering linkage system in my truck and saved BIG time going through the rock. Autozone wanted almost $200 for all the items and I got them from rockauto for $85 shipped!

I also have been very happy with Rock auto and always recommend them to friends. I just recently bought upper and lower ball joints for my jeep. Priced them out locally at advance auto, and after free shipping and 15% off from advance, they were almost $50 cheaper through rock auto.

their prices can't be beat and their delivery times are unmatched.

Just ordered two Moog upper control arm shafts from Rock Auto for my 67 Camaro the other day. No online or local stores could come close to their price and that includes shipping!

Still waiting on the parts and they should be here any day now. Will use them again and again...

+1 from another parts slinger. As some folks mentioned, you are saving money by not getting a warranty. I have a few p.i.t.a. customers who gripe, telling me about 'internet' prices, but it's apples to oranges in the repair business, and I tell them so. When your business is on the line, you want to be able to get a replacement in your hands within the hour if you need it.

In the instances where I can buy it from RockAuto cheaper than I can get it at work (and I can wait), I have no problem going that route though. And they do have a good variety of brands and listings that are clear.

i ordered a cross over pipe for my s10 blazer 4x4 and they sent me a 2wd pipe. they said "send it back and we will refund your money". i went to fed ex and they told me $60.00 to ship it and rock auto charged me $7.00 to ship it to me. i called 3 different people and they all pretty much said that they get a uber cheap shipping rate from fed ex cuz they ship so much out and thats why. i ended up throwing out the pipe and fixing the pipe i had. make sure you know what you are ordering.

i will still order from them cus they have name brand parts and are cheap.

I have had great results with RockAuto. Virtually always the lowest prices on the exact same parts.

When I have a planned project on one of my cars, like a brake job, it's really nice to order the parts and have them show up at my doorstep during the week, that way I can tear right into the project early on Saturday morning....Instead of wasting half of that Saturday morning at the parts counter, only to find out that they only have some of the parts I need, driving to another auto parts store, etc.

I'm new to this site and saw this thread and I will vouch for RA.

2 weeks or so ago I ordered some controls arms on a Friday they came to my door on SAT.! I was shocked

I also needed an o2 sensor called napa for a price check, I didn't like their numbers and I went to Rock auto for a cheaper price

I have used Rock Auto for several years and have been very pleased with the service and the quality of the parts they sell. Always go to them first to see the price of a part. They can't be beat! They ROCK!

After many purchases, I had two bad experiences with the dunces at Rockauto. I had them remove my email address from their listing and don't buy there any more. By looking around online, I have found all parts needed since then at other vendors for less money.

Would you care to elaborate so the rest of us can miss out on the mayhem the dunces caused you ?

Also wed love to know where to get better brands/prices/service ? Dont tease us with "by looking around", christ, that could take years... ?

Thanks, BK.
