I picked up this rock island 573 but as I was restoring it I noticed that on the static jaw it says 573 but on the other it has 593 stamped. Any idea why this would be.
Quite simply, the dynamic jaw is from a model 593 and your vise body is a 573. The original dynamic jaw must have been swapped out sometime along the lifeline of your vise.
