Rock Island 574 numbers help?

I have Rock Island 574 vise and am just cleaning it up and found all these markings. Can anyone help me decipher their meanings? The only marking not very visible in the picture is a Z on the moveable jaw slide. (Not sure of the technical name)

I also uncovered the number 740 on the slide just up from the the Z and also a US with an anchor.

The anchor and "US" stamp indicates it was purchased by the Fed. Gov't for the Navy--may have done shipboard duty or used in a land-based repair facitlity. Member Private Lugnutz is the resident expert on Federal tool procurement and could possibly shed more accurate light. That symbol also shows up on machine tools assigned to USN.
