I purchased a 3phase rockwell drill press for dirt cheap for my garage but need to replace the motor. The current motor is 3phase 1/2 hp 1710 rpm, but I found a 110v single phase 3450 rpm 1 1/2 hp motor. will that work?

No, it doubles the speeds and you will only burn up bits...

Is this a 4 speed pulley setup, or do you have an intermediate pulley for 16 speeds? it would still be too fast in either case, but a 4 speed is less than Ideal if you plan on drilling larger holes in steels.

That^ and look for a 1725 rpm in the 1/2 hp range with the same mounting style.

Aside from spinning too fast, it is highly unlikely the shaft on the bigger motor will fit your drive pulley.
