I currently have a Rockwell 15-081 drill press, it's operates fine however there is some play in the spindle and it is kind of loud. I am quite certain the spindle bearings need to be replaced. My question is how do I go about removing the spindle pulley without wrecking it? 3 jaw puller?

I have the manual which has the process laid out, but any suggestions would help.

have to get under the bottom of it with split bearing puller. loosen the set screw that is against the key. heat from a heat gun on the aluminum pullet helps, or some penetrating oil. that's how I got the last couple off...

You need a pulley puller. Looks like 2 half moons that clamp around one section of the pulley. I went through the same headache with my Walker Turner resto. I got impatient and busted my pulley with a pickle fork.....but was able to remove it with a 3 jaw puller.

If you can't find the plate style puller, you may be able to rig something out of hardwood, but that would probably be my last resort......

If you need weird bearings: Accurate Bearing is the best.

Mayor28 is correct. Accurate Bearing can supply you with the vintage Consolidated extended inner race bearings Delta used up until the mid 60's.

Whatever you do, don't attempt to use a 3-jaw puller on those pot metal pulleys or they'll snap. You'll have to pry them up off the spindle and or motor shaft carefully at the bottom hub only
