I picked up this Rockwell Delta Radial 5-Speed Tilt Head Drill Press, catalog # 11-280 for $50. I'm not sure if I got a good deal on it. I couldn't find much information on it but it's pretty clean.

Looks like a sweet deal to me. What's the top rpm? Usually radial arm drills are ginormous monsters, but this one is pretty svelte. It looks almost the size of a Servo or Cameron.

Nice little drill press. They are know to not be as rigid as a standard style of drill press, but should be fine for smaller bit. With 1/3 hp, I wouldn't be spinning large diameter holes saws, and the added flex would make things worse.

Nice unit as long as your expectations are reasonable.

The light fixture is worth more than $50. Nice for wood, but not so great for metal due to the high mnimum speed (~700rpm) and lower stiffness. Still a nice compact but heavily built drill press.

It looks pretty much exactly like my Sears radial DP. Well worth $50. I use mine all the time for wood since I have a larger slower speed DP for metal but I have used it for steel and have used hole saws with it too. The lack of a crank table lift was the only drawback, but I now use a scissor lift from a car I scrapped and that works very well. I am including an exploded parts view from the manual, but not sure how well it will show up.

Thanks. I see it fine.

Versatile little DP, but as previously mentioned, not very rigid. When drilling steel, position the workpiece as close to the vertical column as possible.

That's the going rate around here. Cheap for those times you need the extra reach and it does the job.

Agreed. Sell the lamp and you got a free drill press. Plenty of modern lamps to replace it.
