I have an old building that I need to insulate and primary I'm worried about the rafters. This is an old building with rough-cut 2x4 rafters 24" on center. I have a vented ridge and collar ties so there will be air space. I want to add rafter vents (I have a box of OC Raft-R-Mate from another project) with Rockwool but the vents take up half of the available space as is.
My thought was to fir out the rafters to a nominal 6", install the vents, and then install a 4" batt & vapor barrier. Seem sane? Working in an old building is fun.
