I'm looking at putting a floor in my 2 car 24x28 garage. Looking at Race Deck, Garage Deck, etc. I also notice that you can purchase 10x24 ft roll out poly E mats. It seems to me that a 10x24 mat (for me x3) will work better as you have fewer seems for oil and other liquids to leak through to the conrete floor. Thoughts?

Hi
You are really comparing two different things, one is a floor mat and the other is a garage floor.
RaceDeck is a durable full-suspension flooring system that allows moisture and air to circulate under your floor to avoid odor causing mold and mildew issues. A floor mat traps all moistures that get under the floor as well as what may come up through the concrete.
We are happy to send you information and free samples

Trapping moisture under the mat is potentially bad and thus a good point. I have a two level garage and there is a beam system on which the main concrete floor is built. So, trapped moisture is not something that is comforting to me. This could potentially cause a problem. I would create a top layer with the mat, a second layer of the concrete (the concrete is sealed) then the plate that sits on the beams. Hmmm.

Jorgen, forgot to say thanks for responding. I think you have a lot of information on the web but now that I know you are actively responding to this board, I will post any questions if that is okay with you. Again, thanks. JBC

Garage Floor tiles and Roll Out garage flooring such as the G-Floor PVC product (in the 10'x24' rolls you mentioned) are both legitimate and viable solutions for garage flooring. We happen to offer both types of products. There are advantages and disadvantages to both.

Advantages & Disadvantages Of Hard Plastic Garage Tiles

Hard plastic tiles have been sold by companies like Sport Court for decades and are a wonderful option to beautify your garage floor. Like any product there are two sides of the product.
  • Resistant to Stains and Chemicals
  • Modular -- Size is not a concern
  • Easy to Customize -- Create your Own Pattern
  • Some people complain they are 'Noisy'
  • Some People complain that moisture and dirt can easily go through the tiles

Advantages and Disadvantages of Roll Out Garage Flooring
  • No power tools required
  • Virtually 'Instant' garage floor in many applications
  • Affords high level of protection to the garage floor
  • Variety of sizes, patterns and colors
  • Some customers complain that they stain more easily than hard plastic tiles if they are left unprotected

There are mutual installation concerns and benefits with either product.
  • Careful attention needs to be paid to measures that can be taken to avoid expansion and contraction issues
  • Little if any floor preparation
  • No harsh chemicals and your garage is typically available for use the same day

There are also some other products on the market, such as TrueLock PVC garage tiles that combine the best features of both products at a slightly higher price. With any PVC product we do suggest a measure be taken in accordance with manufacturers instructions to protect from stains.
