Craftsman Professional 3 ton jack stands. Bought a pair about a year ago. Use them, they work. Nice paint, fair price on sale, but still Chinese. Whee.
Tonight I discovered a pair of roll pins taped to the inside of the base of one of the pair.
I peeked, best I can figure is, there's a blind hole in the bottom of the vertical, cast/toothed post, and this pin will prevent the post from coming up and out of the hole, if you pull it up all the way.
And I don't see why I should care.
Not a safety issue; if that post ever wants to travel that far in a bad situation, my haid is already mashed like a ripe melon?
It allows me to pick up the jackstands by the posts and carry them around that way?
